Description
Another shot from my hike up Malan's Peak last winter.
I was actually planning to go up specifically for the blue hour shot (the previous image I shared a few days ago). Because that was my plan and because the weather was very gray and socked in I really took my time going up as I wasn't expecting there to be any kind of sunset.
Well, a few hundred feet short of the summit the sun suddenly broke through the clouds. The peak above me was blocking my view but I could just see color reflecting everywhere. I was exhausted from trudging through the snow on the steep trail for the last few hours but I knew I had to get up there. With the deep snow and steep slope it took me several minutes to get up those last few hundred yards even at 100% effort (maybe I should have turned it up to 110%).
Once I got there and saw the scene I knew it was worth it in spite of my exhaustion, and I immediately got to shooting. The light was fleeting, but I managed to get a few shots in, including this one.
